OUR
LOCAL FOOTPRINT

In 2018 and 2019, we focused largely on tournament play and school golf programs. We also looked at our coach numbers and decided that the only way to grow to 500+ kids was to grow to 50+ coaches.

We began reaching out for young people who were youth centered, sports centric, and wanting to learn the game of golf. We could have looked for golfers to bring into the teaching program, but we wanted to blank slates so that we could seamlessly teach our philosophy, and grow the brand. We reached out to Mr. Paul McCaan from the University of The Bahamas for feedback, and that has led to 8 of his physical education majors joining the coach program. Next, we looked at recent high school graduates who were interested in learning the game, but also exploring the options of future employment. We added another 8 young interns, who graduated high school in June 2020.

With this complement of coaches, we have been able to successfully run junior golf tournaments, golf camps, school programs, and still cater to our afterschool programs which involve practice at the BGF Golf Facility and play at Royal Blue Golf Club at Baha Mar.

Asking the right questions

Do we have an efficient age feeder system?

How many boys and girls are in the various age divisions?

How can increase the numbers in each division and make the base as large as possible?

How can we train more instructors to have the ability to teach more students?

How can we fund this without turning away students unable to pay?

Amount of youth we can now reach
