Fourteen Clubs Junior Golf Academy & The Front 9
Miranda Tucker Shines in the Local 2019 Neutrogena Drive, Chip & Putt Championships
Ms Miranda Tucker, Student of St Augustines College, came out with the top score of 121 points in the recently concluded Neutrogena DCP Championships held at the BGF Golf Facility on Baillou Hill Road Sports Complex this past Saturday October 19th, 2019.
Hosted by Fourteeen Clubs Golf Academy in conjunction with Neutrogena, Aquapure and with the support of the BGF and Junior Golfers Parent Body, the event was the first of its kind here as it included golfers from aged 4yrs to 50+yrs of age and eleven categories.
Winners of each category are listed as follows: Boys/Girls 4yrs-9yrs – Ms. Jalene Bowleg who amassed 78 points in the way to her win. Boys/Girls 10yrs-11years – Michael Knowles with 104 points and was second overall in the points total accumulated. Boys 12yrs-13yrs – Alexander Knowles, 14yr-15yrs – Alex Dupuch, 16yr-18yrs – Clinton Bowleg. Girls 12-13 – Elyse Hanna, 14-15 – Tyesha Tynes, 16-18 – Miranda Tucker.
In the Men’s category, Mr. Aharon Bastian and Mr. Jim Laroda won with points of 95 and 50 respectively. Mrs. Rosena Pratt was victorious in the Women’s category with her 75 points total.
Ms. Rian Sands, Consumer Brands Manager at Lowe’s Wholesale commented that Neutrogena was proud to sponsor the Drive-Chip-Putt Championship held by 14 Clubs Golf Academy and The Bahamas Golf Federation. She noted that the event was a success as the brand was able to give both golfers and spectators an experience geared toward raising the awareness of Neutrogena’s sun care line. Sun Care items and promotional materials were dispersed throughout the 4-hour event by the Neutrogena Team and, the dialogues consisted of the importance and use of the items in the sport of Bahamian golf. Through personal interaction with the Neutrogena Team, it was evident there were quite a bit of persons unaware of the dire need to protect the skin from the sun’s UVA and UVB rays. For some, their use of skin care items was present but inconsistent and for others there was no use at all. The branding opportunity afforded to the Neutrogena brand was both exciting and invaluable. We would like to wish Coach Georgette Rolle and the team a thank you for the partnership with the growing sport of golf in the Bahamas, and to all of the golfers a special congratulations on another completed championship event.
The next event for the Junior Golfers is the Royal Fidelity Junior Golf Open to be at the Ocean Club Golf Course, Paradise Island on Saturday November 9th, 2019.
