Updated: May 11, 2020

The Front 9 Junior Golf Tour has just wrapped up its 3rd event for 2018. Thank you to Royal Blue Golf Club at Baha Mar for hosting the 50 junior golfers that got the chance to play on March 11th. The tour has secured 20+ events being played at all courses in The Bahamas including, Abaco, Freeport, Exuma, and Nassau. The Front 9 is dedicated to ensuring that our junior golfers have a full tournament schedule and other opportunities to succeed in the first half of their golf lives. RECORD 150 MATCH When asked to explain the reason behind the juniors playing a “shortened” golf course, Georgette Rolle (aka Coach “G”) told the kids “ There was point in time when I would ask the kids which club they played from certain yardages. There were not many juniors who truly understood how far they hit the ball, or which club they used from certain yardages. Now when I ask them which club they hit from 100yds, they can all tell me, as they just finished an event where they had to hit that same club 18 times (once at the start of each hole which was 100yds in length). Now when we ask them which club they hit from 150 yds, they are able to tell us as well.” Twice per year the kids will have the opportunity to compete for the title of the 100yd and 150yds Record holder. The kids are encouraged throughout the year to play the course from those yardages to set unofficial records. THE FIELD Hosted on March 11th, the tournament featured 50 players. Congratulations to the overall winner, 15yr old Ashley Michel, who captured the tournament flag. Ashley tied with Lexander Antoine (from Freeport) for 1st, but after a scorecard/paper playoff, Ashley emerged as the winner. The overall record holder from 150yds is Ashley Michel, 15, from Nassau.
